Summary
Eligibility: All undergraduate, master’s level, Ph.D., and J.D. students are eligible to apply. People are also eligible if they are a veteran or a recent college graduate within six months of graduation. All summer interns work full time and for a minimum of eight weeks, although 10 weeks is preferred. During the fall and spring, part-time students are accepted, but interns must be able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week. International students must be able to provide documentation that shows they are allowed to work in the United States. American Progress interns are paid at the D.C. minimum wage rate. As of July 2019, that rate is $14 per hour. Effective July 1, 2020, the D.C. minimum wage will rise to $15 per hour. American Progress also offers interns metro benefits.
